Mike's parents, Jay and Sylvia, visit from Florida. Mike's insecurities come out when Jay zones in on his parenting style, and Kay becomes jealous of Sylvia's growing bond with Nicole.

When the basement has to be renovated, keeping Mike and Kay from their safe space, the kids get together and hatch a plan to help them get away for the night. As a result, Nicole and Brian are left to babysit, which they realize is not as easy as their parents make it seem.
When Mike and Kay get caught in a lie about Leila's birthdate, they throw her a party with a theme of her choice; Brian, Nicole and Marc struggle with the news that Rita and Irwin would be their guardians if something happens to Mike and Kay.
